Trust the Bible as the Word of God

Beloved, here’s an important truth: no one can sincerely believe God's opinion in its totality (as presented in the Bible) without first believing and trusting the credibility of the Bible as truly the Word of God and not the word of man. I have met many so-called believers who think that because the Bible was written by men there is no way it could be the literal Word of God. Such people are easily deceived by every wind of doctrine thrown at them by Satan through his human proxies. This is just sad. If you’re one such person I’m not going to try to convince you to accept the Bible as God’s Word, because it takes faith to accept the Bible as God’s Word. If you can't accept by faith that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, you can't please God, because, you see, God is not pleased by those who seek to follow him by logic or reasoning; He is not impressed by people who seek after scientific evidence to convince them to follow God, because God transcends Science. God is only pleased with those who follow Him by faith.

The Bible, as we know, testifies of itself as the inspired Word of God. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Another translation of verse 16 says that all Scripture is “God-breathed.” Thus, the Bible is literally the Word of God written through the hands of men. Therefore the Bible is true and right (see Psalm 33:4); it is pure and flawless. (see Proverbs 30:5). In fact, the Lord Jesus Christ, in His teachings, also confirmed and affirmed the Bible as God’s Word, and as truth. (see Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; John 17:17; Luke 11:28; Matthew 22:40; 24:15). For instance, Jesus affirmed the story of the creation of Adam and Eve in the beginning (see Matthew 19:4-6), the story of Noah and the flood (see Luke 17:26), the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (see Matthew 10:15), the lifting of the bronze serpent by Moses in the wilderness (see John 3:14), the story of the prophet Jonah who was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights (see Matthew 12:39-41), and so forth. This is the Bible’s own testimony of itself. But if you are someone who believes in scientific evidence, and cannot bring yourself to accept the Bible’s own testimony of itself as well as Jesus’ confirmation and affirmation of the Bible as truth and as God’s Word, you can conduct your own research, and you would discover that the Bible is always way ahead of Science in stating and affirming (scientific) truths.

When for so many years scientific evidence insisted that the earth was flat, the Bible maintained that the earth is round, by declaring that "God sits enthroned above the circle of the earth." (see Isaiah 40:22). The Bible never changed its position. It was scientific knowledge that grew until it fell in line with the truth of the Bible that the earth is indeed round or circular. If human wisdom had written the Bible, they would've made the same error Science made. That is just one example. Another example is in the field of medicine. For years, medical science believed that bleeding a sick person would help the sick to recover. Consequently, when George Washington, the first president of the United States of America was sick, the doctors bled him, then they bled him again till he lost so much blood and died. I don't blame the doctors; they were only following the medical principle or wisdom of the day. But imagine what would've happened if they had read the Bible and discovered the Bible's clear declaration that "the life of a creature is in the blood." (see Leviticus 17:11). Medical science would later learn this truth and fall in line with what the Bible had maintained all along. And so today, when someone is sick, doctors don't bleed him; they rather give him blood (blood transfusion), because the life of a creature is indeed in the blood. Again, in the 14th century the Bubonic plague killed about a third of Europe’s population because medical science knew nothing about putting people with infectious diseases in quarantine. Meanwhile the Bible had instructed years earlier that we are to put an infected person in quarantine for seven days. (see Leviticus 13:4). Medical science learned this truth later (in a very hard and costly way). Indeed, the Bible is always ahead of Science in stating truths. In fact, many of the things Science convinced all of mankind to believe in the past as “scientific truths” have been proven over the years to be false, whether it is the shape of the earth, the axis of the earth, the bleeding of the sick, the age of the earth, the number of planets in the solar system, the single cell protoplasm, etc. And yet we know that truth is never supposed to change. In the Louvre Library today, there’s a huge section that contains obsolete science books. Once-held scientific “truths” have been, and are always being revised or replaced by new “truths” as scientists make new discoveries. And so the science textbooks in our schools keep being revised. It is just puzzling and astonishing how fast scientific facts do change. But the Bible (in its original text and language) has not undergone a single revision. In fact, the Bible has survived all the attacks launched against it by scientists and historians over the years, as they struggled to align themselves with some of the Bible’s truths after years of studies and discoveries. This only goes to affirm the Bible as the eternal and flawless Word of God. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35). The Bible remains the same and endures forever. Indeed, the truths of the Bible remain truths regardless of what Science claims, because, well, what does Science know about truth anyway, given its shifting stance on almost every issue? Beloved, I can go on and on with examples, but you see, I don't need to, because I believe that the only way the Bible would have truths that the finest and most popular human wisdom cannot conceive is that it was inspired by God, since only God knows all truth. There are some who may probably still need more evidence to believe the Bible as the Word of God regardless of how much evidence I provide here; this is why I wouldn't argue with such people or even try to convince them, because, you see, it doesn't take logical reasoning to believe the Bible; it only takes faith. I therefore commend the Bible to you as the literal Word of God. And I tell you right now that you don’t truly know God nor believe in God until you believe in the Bible, the Word of God.
